Live at Lucky 13 video bootleg from Washed Up Media now up!

Here’s a little #tbt courtesy of Washed Up MediaShot this last year at Lucky 13 Saloon, here’s a live bootleg of our song “Five Day Death”. Enjoy!

“true Believer” up everywhere now

A few months back we recorded a new song “True Believer” with Kurt Ballou (Converge, GodCity Studio) for Converse Rubber Tracks and MetalSucks.net, which you can now download and stream on our bandcamp, itunes, spotify, and just about damn near everywhere else.

“equal parts post-metal, prog, stoner, psychedelic and sludge. Most importantly, they blend all these seemingly disparate elements into a whole that doesn’t sound the slightest bit scattered; it totally works. So where does that leave us? I don’t even fucking know. How about just “good,” is that enough? The band’s performance on “True Believer…” is their best to date. They sound even tighter and more focused here than they did on their Secret Snakes, Silent Serpent album, which only came out this past January.”

Go get your download on, and come here us play it live February 6th at BSP Kingston with Moon Tooth and It’s Not Night: It’s Space!

Stream new song “Trve Believer” on metalsucks.net now!

CRTMETALSUCKS2-620x319

It’s here. This fall we were picked as part of the Metalsucks.net Converse Rubber Tracks sessions in Boston, MA, with producer Kurt Ballou (Converge, High on Fire, Torche) where we laid down this new song “Trve Believer”.

We’re really proud of this one and are humbled by all the support we’ve been shown by MetalSucks.net and to work with the legendary Kurt Ballou on this one. Enough talk. Just listen.

“Secret Snakes/Silent Serpent” Out NOW!

Sorry for the lack of updates- we’ve been having some site issues which we are resolving.

Dead Empires Secret Snakes Silent Serpent CD

Our new album is OUT NOW!

The Limited Edition CD (first pressing of 300) which includes a hand-numbered, full-color gatefold digipak jacket (hand-numbered), CD, 1 of 6 metallic/hologram “tarot card” color inserts (50 ea.,hand-numbered), credits insert, sticker, and full-color poster.

We’re really proud of it. But don’t take our word for it, we’ve already got a bunch of reviews- here’s what the internet has to say about it!

“10/10- an achievement in creative songwriting and execution, an exercise in balanced, yet unrestrained musicianship. As part of the five year history of Dead Empires, it is something else entirely. It is tangible growth, in leaps and bounds. And while that may seem like stating the obvious, it was less than three years ago that their new release at the time seemed like the best piece they had ever done, and may ever do. And now it’s been replaced, with no hesitation, by an album that is better in every conceivable way. They’ve moved beyond the boundaries they had carved out with the last album, and into a wide open space.” -Sorrow Eternal Blog

“8/10- Much in the way a mosaic is constructed, combining fragments of vastly different materials and colors to form a thought-provoking final product, Dead Empires take a range of musical styles that when viewed closely seem vastly different, but when taken as a whole compose a breathtaking, organic experience. 100% Gluten Free – Guaranteed. I’m not sure about Kosher though.” -Target Audience Magazine/Better B# Blog

“8/10- Dead Empires is not an instrumental band. Of course, you’re free to call them that, but they choose not to label themselves as such. In their words, they say it allows them create music that is organic, natural and passionate. This mindset has led to an album that fuses many styles of music into one sweeping collection of songs. …I went into this album not expecting anything, and was pleasantly surprised by how cohesive the multiple sounds are.” -It Djents Blog

“Imagine how incredible it would be if a band combined the aggression of Converge with the heaviness and melody of Torche, well Dead Empires have done just that and the results are absolutely stunning.” -United By Rocket Science Blog

“…hard as nails sludge metal with a cool lo-fi retro sound and tons of energy.” -Prog Metal Zone

You can a copy of the CD via our online store or at Darkside Records and Gallery in Poughkeepsie, NY while supplies last. You can get the album digitally on bandcamp, itunes, amazon, cdbaby, or whatever digital provider you use.

New Song “Five Day Death” Available Now on METALSUCKS.NET!

It’s here! MetalSucks.net “NYC Sucks” Compilation- featuring the brand-new, exclusive Dead Empires song “Five Day Death” (Not to mention tunes by the best NY metal bands)! The song was produced and recorded by the incomprable Rick Birmingham at Tin Roof Sessions Studios in New Paltz!

Here’s what they had to say: “Dead Empires sound like what Cloudkicker could’ve been in an alternate universe in which Ben Sharp was influenced by doomy, stoney High on Fire riffs instead of atmospheric post rock and Meshuggah… with a few extra bong rips thrown in for good measure. The Hudson Valley, NY instrumental three-piece brings it hard on their latest offering Waiting in Waves, and this new, previously unreleased track offers a taste of what’s in store on their soon-to-be-released next effort.”

Download it here–> http://www.metalsucks.net/2014/04/30/free-download-nyc-sucks-volume-4-featuring-best-new-york-citys-metal-scene/

This edition of the compilation also features seven — count ‘em, SEVEN — previously unreleased tracks that are now available to the world for the very first time. The compilation boasts thirteen songs by some of our favorite metal bands from the NYC area, running the gamut of genres from death to tech to prog to grind to black to hardcore to doom and more. We truly feel that this is a great sampling of all that New York’s thriving metal scene has to offer, and we’re beyond proud to be sharing it with you — absolutely, 100% free of charge. why are you still reading this? WE DID IT!

Holy shit, we did it. We are officially the BSP Lounge‘s 2013 Hudson Valley Battle of the Bands Champions!

Dead Empires - 2013 Hudson Valley Battle of the Bands Champions

THANK YOU to everyone who helped us succeed at the Hudson Valley Battle of the Bands. There were over 30 other bands in this thing, including many of our friends- Afterhours, Nautilus, The Blind Ambassadors, Minotaur’s Redemption- and we have to give credit where credit is due. In the end we fought hard and took home that trophy, and can’t wait to get back to The IsOkOn (where we recorded Waiting in Waves) and in case you don’t know, we won the chance get some new tracks down! The entire experience was awesome- and a sincere thank you to everyone who came out and supported us, cheered for us, or voted for us- we couldn’t have done it without you.

And more importantly, the entire BOTB was a donation-only charity event helped raise over $1K for the Ulster County SPCA, a total we are happy to have contributed to!

So with that, we are happy to announce that we are hard at work on a bunch of new tunes- and if you have been to any of our recent shows, you’ve heard a bunch of em already. So I guess it’s not that new of an announcement. We’ve got a couple more we’re still working on, and once they’re done we’ll jump in the studio and get em out. In the meantime, we’ll keep you all posted on our timetable!

We have a ton of huge shows coming up in July and August- including a couple festivals, shows with Jucifer and Hush, our return to Long Island, a show at Europa and The End Records, and a couple with our friends Moon Tooth- so hit up our tour dates and come hang out!

Once again, THANK YOU to everyone who supported us and officially helped us gain the title of BEST BAND IN THE HUDSON VALLEY! That’s right, suck it Pete Seeger!
